On Maui, a low-priced one-time build often comes out cheaper over three years than a monthly plan, but monthly plans often cover more, such as hosting, edits and someone to call, so the totals aren't like-for-like. The bigger difference is what happens when you stop paying. Some designers hand you the site and some keep it on their own servers. This article lays out how Maui designers charge, runs three years of posted prices, and shows each designer's exit terms in their own words. Frontline Web Designs wrote it, and Frontline is one of the options listed. Every competitor price comes from that designer's own page, checked October 30, 2026. For the full side-by-side price table, see Maui web design prices and examples.
Four ways Maui designers charge
Most Maui quotes fall into one of four models. For the general method, see what Maui web designers charge.
1. One-time build
You pay once for the finished site, then pay for hosting and a domain on your own, or add an optional care plan.
- Frontline Web Designs (Wailuku). Starter $300 to $500 (1 to 3 pages), Business $800 to $1,500 (up to 5 pages), Premium $2,000+ (unlimited pages, e-commerce), as posted on Frontline's pricing page. The optional care plan is $75 a month or $750 a year (maintenance page). In Frontline's words: "Your site and your domain are yours, always."
- SmallBusinessWeb.Design sells fixed-scope projects. As posted on its home page, October 30, 2026: "Most of our five-page sites land between $4,500 and $9,500," with a fixed quote after the first call. Scope note: that range covers five-page sites and, in its words, depends "on copy, photography, and integrations."
2. Monthly plan
You pay a monthly fee that covers the site, hosting, and support. Some plans add a setup fee.
- Maui HD (Kahului). $200/mo (Good), $300/mo (Better, which adds SEO, business email and an AI chat assistant) and $700/mo (Best, which adds e-commerce and custom tools), month to month, as posted on mauihd.com/pricing.html, October 30, 2026. Hawaii GET may apply. Scope note: Maui HD says "Every plan includes the website, hosting, SSL, and unlimited content changes."
- Keahinetics (Bruce Keahi). $50, $85 or $125 a month ("founding client pricing"), plus a setup fee of $300 to $1,000 (Starter), $300 to $2,500 (Standard) or $300 to $4,950 (Plus), "waived with a 12-month agreement," as posted on keahinetics.com, October 30, 2026. Hawaii GET is added.
- HawaiiWebSEO (Kihei). "Plans start at $574 a month on an annual term," plus a one-time onboarding fee, covering "up to five standard pages," as posted on hawaiiwebseo.com/maui-web-design, October 30, 2026. Scope note: the build or revamp and ongoing website management are included, so this plan covers more than a build alone.
- Adelle Brianne LLC (Kahului). Setup $497 ($397 kamaʻāina), then a monthly fee: $49/mo (you make updates) or $99/mo (they make updates). In its words, "A monthly service fee is required for all websites." Extra pages are $100 each. As posted on adellebrianne.com/pricing, October 30, 2026.
3. Lease or buy
- maui-seo.com offers both. The lease starts "at $99 a month," with an "Option to buy after 24 to 36 months, priced on what the site is worth then." If you buy outright, custom builds "typically land between $2,500 and $12,000," and the site is "Yours from launch day." As posted on maui-seo.com/maui-web-design/ and maui-seo.com/blog/maui-website-cost/, October 30, 2026.
4. Quote after a call
- Digital Reach (Wailuku) posts no set web design price: "Every Maui site is custom-scoped after the first call." It does publish a pricing methodology, and its web design page says "You own everything."
On the pages we checked, we saw no posted price for Maui Web Designs, Big Beach Digital, Maui Growth Co. or Hawaii Web Solutions. Quoting after a call is a normal way to work. We've written about why some web designers don't post prices.
One-time vs monthly: three years of posted prices
Most small business sites get replaced every few years, so three years is a fair window for comparing quotes. The figures below are simple arithmetic on each designer's lowest posted starting price, before Hawaii GET. They are not quotes, and what each price covers varies a lot. Read the scope column before you compare totals.
Swipe sideways to see every column.
| Designer and plan | Three-year math | What it covers | If you leave (their words, summarized in the next section) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frontline Starter, no care plan | $300 + 3 × ($150 to $225) = $750 to $975 | 1 to 3 pages. Hosting and a .com only. No edits | Site and domain are yours |
| Frontline Starter + care plan | $300 + $75 × 36 = $3,000 | 1 to 3 pages, hosting, domain and SSL renewal, monthly content edits | Site and domain are yours, full hand-off |
| Keahinetics, lowest plan | $50 × 36 = $1,800 (setup waived on a 12-month agreement; otherwise add $300 to $1,000) | Monthly plan with hosting and Managed Care | Download of site files on request |
| Adelle Brianne | $497 + $49 × 36 = $2,261 | You make updates on the $49 plan | Not stated on the page checked |
| maui-seo.com lease | $99 × 36 = $3,564, before any buyout | Leased site | Option to buy after 24 to 36 months |
| Maui HD Good | $200 × 36 = $7,200 | Website, hosting, SSL, unlimited content changes | Files for a one-time fee |
| HawaiiWebSEO | $574 × 36 = $20,664, plus onboarding | Build plus ongoing website management | Not stated on the page checked |
Competitor prices as posted on each designer's own page, October 30, 2026. Frontline hosting and domain figure as of 2026-10-31. Excludes Hawaii GET.
The two Frontline rows are not the same service. The $75-a-month care plan includes monthly content edits along with hosting, SSL and domain renewal. A client who skips it pays only for hosting and a domain, about $150 to $225 a year as of 2026-10-31 at renewal prices, and gets no edits. Prices may change. That figure comes from the renewal prices on the public pages of Hostinger, Frontline's host, as of 2026-10-31: the Premium tier renews at $10.99 a month, the next plan up at $16.99 a month, and a .com lists at $19.99 a year. That works out to $151.87 to $223.87 a year. Promo prices for prepaying are lower in the first term and go up at renewal, so we used renewal prices.
Scope matters at every price point. HawaiiWebSEO's plan includes ongoing website management. Maui HD's plans include unlimited content changes. Frontline's $300 Starter is 1 to 3 pages, and edits are billed through the care plan.
Do you own your website? What happens when you leave
Before you sign, ask each designer one question: if I stopped paying tomorrow, would I still have a website? Here is what each one says, in its own words, as posted October 30, 2026:
- Frontline Web Designs: "Your site and your domain are yours, always." About the care plan: "Leave any time and the site and domain stay yours, with a full hand-off." (maintenance page)
- Keahinetics: "You own your domain name and all of your content, always. If you ever leave, we'll give you a download of your site files and help point your domain to your new host." (keahinetics.com)
- Maui HD: "We host and maintain your site on our servers for as long as you're on a plan." If you leave, files can be handed over "for a one-time fee," with no promise that they'll run on another host without some work. It says ownership of words and photos is set out "in the written agreement." (mauihd.com/pricing.html)
- maui-seo.com: Lease: "Option to buy after 24 to 36 months, priced on what the site is worth then." Buy: "Yours from launch day." (maui-seo.com/maui-web-design/)
- Digital Reach: "You own everything." (digitalreach.co/services/web-design/)
- HawaiiWebSEO, Adelle Brianne LLC, SmallBusinessWeb.Design: exit terms were not stated on the pages we checked. Ask them directly, or read their terms pages.
Renting is a legitimate model that some owners prefer. Just know which one you're buying. One of Frontline's Maui clients, 417 Autoworks in Wailuku, "were renting their old site from a white-label platform and could not even locate their own login," according to Frontline's real clients page.
When a monthly plan is the better deal
A monthly plan can be the right choice, and the designers who sell them make a real case for it.
Someone still answers. Maui HD's pricing page, in a section titled "Why monthly beats a one-time site," says a one-time website "is a photograph of the business on the day it launched," and that when the person who built it moves on, "the next change becomes a project with a new invoice." Its pitch for monthly: "The site stays current. Someone at this number still answers. You are not staring at a surprise rebuild bill two years later." (mauihd.com/pricing.html, wording read October 31, 2026)
Cash flow for seasonal businesses. maui-seo.com ties its lease to Maui's seasons: "cash flow on Maui swings with the seasons and your website shouldn't have to wait for a good month." Its cost guide adds, "Maui cash flow is seasonal. Winter and summer can be strong, and the shoulder months thin. That rhythm is exactly why a lease exists." It also offers a buyout after 24 to 36 months if you later want to own the site. (maui-seo.com/maui-web-design/ and maui-seo.com/blog/maui-website-cost/, wording read October 31, 2026)
No money up front. Keahinetics waives setup on a 12-month agreement, so you can launch for the first month's fee.
If you change your site often or want hosting, edits and support on one bill, a monthly plan may suit you better, even if it costs more over three years.
How to compare any two Maui quotes
Put every quote in the same shape before you decide. For each one, ask:
- What's included? Page count, copywriting, photos, forms, e-commerce.
- Are edits included? How many, and what do they cost after that?
- Who pays for hosting, and how much at renewal? Use the renewal price, not the first-term promo price.
- Whose name is the domain in? It should be yours.
- Who owns the files, words and photos? Get the answer in writing.
- What happens if you leave? A file hand-off, a fee, a buyout, or nothing?
- Is Hawaii GET included? Most posted prices don't include it.
- What's the three-year total? Add up 36 months, including setup and onboarding fees.
Where Frontline fits
The facts, from Frontline's own pages:
- Model: one-time flat prices, posted on the pricing page. Starter $300 to $500, Business $800 to $1,500, Premium $2,000+.
- Payment: a 50% deposit, applied to the final invoice. If the finished site is not something Tanner is proud of, he does not charge the balance.
- Turnaround: about a week for most sites.
- Try first: a free sample homepage before you pay anything.
- Ownership: the site and domain are yours. Care is optional at $75 a month, and you can cancel anytime (maintenance).

- Who builds it: Tanner Mosher, a Maui firefighter. Frontline is based in Wailuku.

FAQ
Is a one-time website or a monthly plan cheaper on Maui? At posted starting prices on October 30, 2026, before GET, it depends on the plan, and scope differs. Maui HD's $200-a-month plan comes to $7,200 over 36 months, while Frontline's $300 Starter comes to $750 to $975 with hosting and a .com (as of 2026-10-31, renewal prices, no edits), or $3,000 with the $75-a-month care plan. Monthly plans often include edits and support, so compare what each price covers.
Do I own my website if I pay monthly on Maui? It depends on the designer. Keahinetics says you own your domain and content and will get a download of your site files if you leave. Maui HD hosts the site on its servers while you're on a plan and hands over files for a one-time fee. maui-seo.com leases can be bought after 24 to 36 months.
When is a monthly website plan the better deal? When you want edits, hosting and support handled on one bill, change your site often, or prefer small payments over a larger upfront cost. Seasonal businesses may find that monthly payments fit their cash flow better.
